Share the Love..... of Reading
Feb. 14, 2017
Laurie Vance has been in teaching for over twenty five years. Educated at Wheelock College, Boston College, and post-grad work at University of New Hampshire, Laurie appreciates the value of professional development. Therefore, she continues her study at Teacher's College: Reading Writing Institutes and Lesley University: Center for Literacy.
Currently a fourth grade teacher in Nashua, Laurie's experience includes special education, grades fourth through six classroom, and working alongside colleagues to strengthen literacy instruction. As a National Writing Project Fellow and trained literacy coach, Laurie serves as a professional development presenter for the Nashua School District, National Writing Project of NH, and previously with Education Northwest: originators of 6 +1 Trait Writing.
As a published co-author: Children's Guide to Worship, Laurie has a deep understanding for how the writing process relates to reading, research, writing, and collaboration. These are the creative practices she strives to encourage with students and colleagues. Now, Laurie celebrates a new project; working with colleagues to bring reading-writing opportunities into the heart of a child's home! The Literacy Lending Library serves to strengthen curiosity, learning, and sense of community for Nashua’s families.

The 4 Way Speech Contest will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Nashua. We would love to have as many Rotarians as possible participate in this program as an official, or simply to eat snacks and support the students who participate. They really appreciate the support of the audience, as do their parents. If you have a young person in your life who may want to some day participate, We would encourage you to bring them along to the contest. It is perfectly acceptable, so long as you are not an official, to stay for some period of time, and leave at the conclusion of any speech. If you would like to be a volunteer, would you please email Helen so that she knows how many she can count on for that evening? Also, if you know any high school student in Nashua who you think might be interested in participating, will you kindly forward them Helen's e-mail, and she will send them registration materials? Thanks! |

Laura Richardson, owner of Bikram Yoga Nashua
Jul. 18, 2017
Bikram Yoga Nashua teaches the Bikram series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in a heated room, a method of Hatha yoga that focuses on improving your physical health. The Bikram series of yoga postures when done in the prescribed order works systematically to bring your body into optimal balance. The series is designed to safely warm and stretch the muscles, ligaments, and tendons in an order which maximizes their use and strength. The postures and deep breathing also promote the circulation of fresh, oxygenated blood throughout the body. With a consistent practice, students will find themselves in their ideal weight range, with excellent muscle tone, and vibrant good health. |
