Nashua West Rotary Club Awards
Over $45,000 to Area Nonprofits

Nashua, N.H. – The Rotary Club of Nashua West awarded $45,000 to 43 Nashua region nonprofits throughout fiscal year2015, with missions ranging from the arts to child and senior welfare and from the environment to support of troops fighting overseas. In addition, the Club has funded efforts by two local organizations to end hunger and delivered hats and mittens to area schools. Recently, the Club announced its 2016 Community Organization Assistance Program, open to all 501(c)3 nonprofits in the greater Nashua area.
Meghan Brady, President of St. Joseph Community Services, which received a donation for its Meals on Wheels program, stated that “The Rotary Club of Nashua West’s support has been very welcome, especially as there has been a sharp increase in isolation and hunger for those joining this program. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Meals on Wheels recipients report that they are less hungry since coming on the program and 22% see only the driver for the entire week.”
Those sentiments were shared by all the recipients. "The Rotary Club of Nashua West donation allows us to do meaningful things we normally couldn't afford," said Betsy Houde, Executive Director of The Youth Council. "In 2016, we were able to purchase two iPads for our School Suspension Center so middle school students can practice critical math and reading skills once their school work is completed."
Throughout fiscal year 2015, funds were awarded to American Legion Band, Beaver Brook Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua, Bridges Domestic & Sexual Violence Support, Child and Family Services, Child Advocacy Center of Hillsborough County, Currier Museum of Art, Girls Scouts of the Green & White Mountains, Home Health & Hospice Care Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Nashua Chamber Orchestra, Nashua River Watershed Assoc., Nashua Special Olympics, Rivier Institute for Senior Education, The Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Nashua, Hats & Mittens (Nashua School District Pre K -12), End Hunger New England, Corpus Christi Food Pantry & Assistance, Children's Dyslexia Center of Nashua, Front Door Agency, Inc., Gateways Community Services, Girls Incorporated of NH, Greater Nashua Dental Connection, Harbor Homes, Inc., Humane Society for Greater Nashua, Marguerite's Place, Inc., Nashua High School North Class of 2016, Nashua Prevention Coalition, Nashua High School South Class of 2016, Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, Inc., Nashua Senior Activity Center The PLUS Company, Inc., Prevention Makes Cents, SJCS Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph Hospital, The Southern NH Aids Task Force, Symphony NH, UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc.  YMCA of Greater Nashua, End 68 Hours of Hunger, and The Youth Council.
The Rotary’s Community Projects Chair, Helen G. Honorow, Esq., explains, “These organizations help children and teens who are victims of abuse, improve child literacy and parenting skills, bring music and art to Nashua, feed and support those with life-threatening illnesses and with disabilities, feed the hungry and shelter the homeless, ensure a cleaner environment, and prevent substance abuse. We could not assist so many worthwhile organizations without the support of the Nashua community for our mission and our fundraisers, such as the annual Rock’n Ribfest.”
