The Rotary Club of Nashua West would like to acknowledge this year’s local and overall award recipient of the 2022 Rotary Four Way Speech Contest and this year’s scholarship recipients.
The Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest is conducted each year in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Nashua. The contest is for local area high school students to present and resolve an ethical issue utilizing Rotary’s four founding principles. Students are allowed to choose their own topics that they feel may be relevant.
Mai Dasgupta, a Junior at Bishop Guertin High School was awarded the top prize in the local contest held in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Nashua. She then moved on to the regional contest held in Henniker and the District Final in Lebanon where she also was awarded top honors. Dasgupta provided a very thought provoking and relevant topic applying the Rotary Four Way Test to social media and "Freedom of Speech" in today's turbulent environment. We encourage those interested to view this speech on You Tube.
There were six other entrants who were also recognized by the two local Rotary Clubs. Kailyn Sung received second place honors and Keina Zarate received third place. Honorable recognition awards were given to Joshua Gao, Tiana Brown, Jacelly Rodriquez and Isabelle DiVernieri.
In addition, the Rotary Club of Nashua West has announced and awarded this year’s scholarship recipients. Individuals awarded scholarships were Nasa Ho, Abigail Thomas, Sydney Peterson, Sabrin Astol, Audriana Sanchez, Alec Darrow, Jordan Mills, Ryan Wilke, Amanda Fulton, Alexa Wyborney and Emily Sartell.
The club also wishes to thank those Rotarians directly involved in the Four Way Speech Test competition and the Scholarship opportunities for local youth.
